If you are seeking a smooth, clean finish for refurbishing old bathroom vanities, kitchen cabinets, trim, crown molding, and even furniture, Cabinet Coat is what you want. This product features excellent adhesion and is ideal for painting hard surfaces. It can be used without a primer, even on varnish and polyurethane surfaces. Cabinet Coat showcases a highly-durable semi-gloss that provides optimum flow and leveling. General Surface Preparation Surface areas need proper preparation for the best results. All surfaces that will be painted need to be dry, clean and free of waxes, mildew, oils, grease, dirt, or any surface contaminants. Warm, soapy water can remove most chalk and dirt with some scrubbing. A commercial wax stripper may be required if you are removing surface wax. An Oil or Grease emulsifier can be used to remove oil or greasy applications. Preparing the piece is time-consuming; however, it will drastically improve your end result. First, take off all peeling, cracking and loose chipping paint from surfaces that were painted before. Use wire brushes, hand scraping tools, electric grinders, sanders, etc. to complete sanding. Ensure there is zero rust deposits, chips, or mill scale from metal areas. Replace or repair any delaminated, damaged surface locations. Next, lightly sand the rough paint edges beside the surface area. Any glossy surfaces need to be sanded lightly to dull and scratch up the existing sheen to deliver a more adhesive surface for paint. Vacuum after sanding to remove all dust and debris before painting. Application Cabinet Coat can be simply applied with a roller or a paintbrush. Some prefer to spray and use the HVLP method. It is essential to stir the product well before using. Always strive to maintain a wet paint edge during your application and rolling or brushing adequately into locations previously coated. Note this product dries fast. It can showcase roller marks or brush marks if overworked. Cabinet Coat is best applied when the ambient and surface temperature are higher than fifty degrees Fahrenheit and less than 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Do not paint if there is any chance of moisture accumulating on the wet paint. Clean Up Use warm, soapy water immediately when finished. Wash hands and soak your rollers and brushes and additional equipment. Ensure proper disposal for safety standards. A local recycling location may take empty and dry containers. Check with your local sanitation department or bylaw to discover local disposal requirements. Check on disposal options with your environmental agency. Environmental Health & Safety Information Proper ventilation is essential for use. Never breathe or inhale the sanding dust or spray mist. A fresh air entry is required for safe application and drying. Do not have any contact with skin, or eyes. Wear an approved NIOSH respirator during the application, clean up and sanding to avoid spray mist and dust exposure. Ensure proper respirator use by following directions from the manufacturer. Keep the container closed after every use. Before and after handling, wash your hands. FIRST AID Recommendations Flush with water for a minimum of fifteen minutes if any product gets into the eyes.
